Green serie

by M.V.Baks

The Green Series is a collection of five monumental drawings, created on large handmade green paper, capturing the transformation of the world within the Metamelei series. These works depict the unstoppable rise of nature at a pivotal moment in history—a time when human presence is slowly being pushed back, and the roots of a new era emerge through cracks and crevices.

Once dominated by agriculture and livestock, where grasslands and fields served as a source of food and economic power, a silent revolution is now unfolding. The roots—fast-growing, relentless—return to the surface, as if prying loose the foundations of a human-shaped world and reshaping it. What has been building underground for centuries now finds its way upward: a network of life reclaiming the old landscape.

The Green Silence After Humanity

Within Metamelei, the tension between nature and technology is often central, but in the Green Series, there is no longer a struggle—only the silent takeover. The crumbling edges of concrete and tilework reveal glimpses of the force that lay hidden beneath. Where fences and infrastructure once kept nature in check, new forms now emerge, led by roots that pay no heed to old structures.

The drawings capture this phase on an overwhelming scale. The largest in the series, measuring 270 x 270 centimeters, serves as the focal point of the collection, immersing the viewer in the overwhelming force of organic growth. It is a confrontation with an inevitable future: a world where the old crumbles and the new rises without hesitation.

A Series with Its Own Voice

Although the Green Series is deeply rooted in the themes of Metamelei, this collection stands alone as a powerful visualization of transformation occurring without human intervention. While many works within Metamelei explore the balance between human control and natural autonomy, the roots in this series have already won that battle. The series documents not just a moment in the altermodernist world of Metamelei, but also reflects reality: a world where humanity, however dominant, is always subject to the fundamental forces of growth and decay.

With only one piece still in my possession, the largest serving as an anchor of the collection, the Green Series remains one of the most influential and popular parts of the broader exploration of Metamelei.
