In Psychedelic Chess, the rigid logic of a chessboard dissolves into movement.

A strict black-and-white grid forms the foundation — a symbol of order, rules and binary thinking. Within this structure, organic, twisting forms emerge. The shapes appear to fold, bend and fragment, as if reality itself is slipping between the squares.

Is it a piece in motion?

A distortion of perspective?

Or a system breaking under its own logic?

The drawing plays with perception. The high contrast between light and dark creates optical tension, while the flowing forms interrupt the mechanical rhythm of the board. It is both controlled and destabilized — precise in execution, yet visually disorienting.

Executed in graphite on 250gsm paper, the texture of the surface remains visible. The tonal gradients are subtle, allowing the black squares and the distorted form to hold equal weight.
