Alter modernism - where technology meets nature
Green Serie
The Green Series is a monumental cycle of five graphite drawings created in 2008 on large sheets of handmade green cold-press paper. Each panel—built from 52 × 52 cm sections—forms part of a larger 270 × 270 cm composition, a living surface where the world of Metamelei first began to break open.
These drawings mark a turning point in my practice: the moment when the silent uprising of nature became the central tension in my altermodernist universe. What once was agricultural land—structured, cultivated, economical—is shown on the brink of collapse. Through cracks in tiles and fractured concrete, fast-growing roots return to daylight, reclaiming the structures that once kept them subdued.
In the Green Series, the struggle between nature and humanity has already passed. What remains is the stillness after the shift: a world where growth continues without our permission. The roots do not ask; they reshape.
Standing before the largest piece, the viewer is enveloped by this quiet takeover. The work does not demand an interpretation—it imposes a new reality. It is both a memory of a world we once shaped and a reminder of the forces that were always waiting underneath.
Although this series forms part of Metamelei, it holds its own voice: a documentation of transformation unfolding without human intervention. A vision of what emerges when the hidden finally breaks through.
With only one of the five works still in my possession, the Green Series remains one of the most formative chapters of my artistic journey.
